I have been quoted for my Ford Explorer several times from many different shops in town and they all give me a pretty big price gap between eachother... Why is that? Glass is glass, so I might as well take the cheaper shop!

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Glass is not Glass There are a lot of manufactures of Glass out there but you want to make sure you get a O.E.M quality piece of glass. Most importantly you need to make sure the shop you choose is using a quality glue. The thing most people do not realize is the windshield is a vital part of the structural integrity of the car. Using a inferior glue and not following proper installation techniques can and will compromise the overall safety of your car. As for the glass the only other thing I can say is some of the cheaper pieces of glass seem to be more susceptible to rock chips. Your safety is important make sure you know what your buying.

Auto glass is a serious business and safety is a big issue. Sometimes what seems like a deal is not the glass may fit your car but the way it was installed may cause it to leak or potential change the structural integrity of your car ultimately compromising your safety in the event of an accident. Quality workmanship is just as important.
